Stay in the kitchen when frying, grilling, or broiling. If you must leave the kitchen, turn off the stove. Keep anything that can catch  fire away from the stove top.

Keep the stove top, ovens, & burners clean.

If a fire starts in the oven, turn off the oven & leave the door closed. The oven should be checked /serviced before being used again.

If a small grease fire starts in a pan, smother the flames by carefully sliding the lid over the pan. Turnoff the burner. DO NOT move the pan. Leave the lid on until the pan is completely cool.

 MICROWAVES

Plug the microwave directly into an outlet. Using an extension cord can overload the circuit & cause a fire.

If you have a fire in your microwave slowly, turn it off immediately & keep door closed. Do not open door till it is completely out. Have the microwave serviced before using again.

BURNS

Turn the pot handles away from the stove’s edge and use the back burners when possible.

If your clothes do catch fire, stop, drop & roll!

Burns require immediate attention. Run the area under cool water  3-5 minutes. Cover with clean, dry cloth. If the burn is bigger than  your fist, or if you have questions about caring  for the injury, get  medical help right away.

Plug power cords only into the outlets with sufficient capacity & never into an extension cord.
